The Premier of Ontario Legislative Building Queen's Park Toronto, Ontario M7A 1A1
Dear Sir,
My name is Denyce VerKuilen, nee Macpherson. I am the eldest sibling of Kathy Macpherson.
My sister, Kathy has been living at Huronia since she was 11 years old. She is now 48 years old. Huronia has been her home for over 30 years. She has been very ill these past 6 months and will always require 24hr care. My sister can not speak and be integrated into the community. Sending her to a group home will be a death sentence.
I do not understand why a government that protects minorities, immigrants and animals and yet turns a blind eye to those who need your protection the most. Has anyone taken the time to visit the residents, interview the caregivers? If it were not for the caregivers, my sister would not be alive today.
Why are you listening to a lobby group who knows nothing about what they are talking about ? It would be very dangerous for my sister to be allowed to just walk out of the door. She has no understanding of the outside world and her disabilities are many. Freedom for my sister would mean suffering and death.
Please, reconsider this decision that will ruin the lives of many.
Sincerely,
|
